OPPO FIND X 3

Two years ago I had the honour to help Ernest Desumbila in an ambitious Pitch, when he told me about the project I thought the idea was awesome, but quite complex to achieve and a bit crazy to win as a pitch, but as a good lover of sci-fy I started to draw at next second after the call.  The first thing we did was to create some atmosphere concepts to enter in the mood, desertic planet and brutalist spaceships...
One of my favourites ideas was the one about craters, where the crashed rocks had brought life with them, and we would represent it with magical lights and effects. As is customary in Ernest's pieces, we had to add an exoskeleton, and I love giant robots, so Ihad no time to lose to start imagining every object on this planet.

We won the pitch and we had to create everything we had imagined, but in a feasible way, well and in a very limited time, we had less than 2 months to conceptualize and manufacture all the necessary assets for the shoot, and Ernest didn't think of it. nothing more than asking for the astronauts' suits to be chrome, the art team still remembers that moment.
Designing the helmet was an odyssey, since it had to be aesthetically attractive and comfortable for the actors, each one of them had a different head size, it also had to have lights inside, a glass... really complex, I remember that I used a VR headset to preview the helmet and realized that I was making it too big, and I was able to readjust the size before printing the first prototype.
Toni Soul, the art director and in charge of coordinating the production of all the assets, did a very good job, managing to unify the different disciplines of styling and industrial design. Chopo was in charge of the final finishing of all the assets, as well as applying the chrome and lights to the suits and holding the exoskeleton.
The interior of the ship, had to be a mobile laboratory, in order to achieve a connection between the interior and the exterior and to make the architecture relate, we created some windows inspired by the space shuttle, which had to show part of the structure of the nave, these windows were both in the wall and in part of the roof. The interior of the ship should also have sloped walls to give the feeling that it was a limited space, and a bit claustrophobic, to give that feeling of being inside a vehicle. small reliefs and pressurized doors had to decorate the space.
again Toni Soul and his art team did wonders with the interior, and put all kinds of details, from test tubes and led lights to scientific microscopes, rock samples and more elements typical of a laboratory.
